What the August FAO figure can tell a reader
The August 2026 FFPI reading combines a monthly level and a change against revised July within an international food commodity index.
The reported movement
In August 2026, the FFPI averaged 133.3 points. FAO put that 2.5 points, or 1.9%, above its revised July level. The comparison is part of the result: 133.3 points alone gives no direction of change.
The unit of observation
The FFPI measures monthly changes in international prices for a basket of food commodities. The August increase therefore describes that index, not the price of an individual item in Zimbabwe.
