Reviewed information
What does the number describe, and what remains a stated aim?
The ministry's statement contains a release count and two declared aims; reading them separately keeps their different scope clear.
What the count describes
In the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement dated 19 August 2026, the count describes one reported exchange result: mediation between Russia and Ukraine led to the release of 103 captives from each side, 206 in total.
What appears as a stated aim
The same statement separately records the ministry reaffirming the UAE's commitment to efforts aimed at a peaceful solution and at mitigating the humanitarian impact of the crisis. The release count reports a result; it does not measure whether those two stated aims have been achieved.
